Position Overview

The Workforce Communications Manager is responsible for leading and managing communications strategies and programs that connect employees to OCHIN’s mission, values, business aims and priorities.

Skilled at fostering a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive culture, this leader is adept at working across the organization to create internal programs and tactics that support organizational development and performance, connect employees to mission and performance, and spark brand ambassadorship from within.

This role requires an ability to write for a broad and diverse workforce and support senior leader executives in shaping and delivering values-driven messages that inform, educate and inspire employee audiences.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

To keep our colleagues, members, and communities safe, OCHIN requires all employees—including remote employees, contractors, interns, and new hires—to be vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine, as supported by state and federal public health officials, as a condition of employment.

All new hires are required to provide proof of full vaccination or receive approval for a medical or religious exemption before their hire date.

Essential Duties

• Shapes and produces workforce communications programs that enable employees to connect, contribute, to and champion OCHIN’s mission, vision, and values.

Supports organizational change management efforts through building and executing communications plans that reflect OCHIN’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Partners with OCHIN’s Human Resources partners to develop engaging and measurable communications strategies to support culture-building goals reflective of a high-growth and mission driven organization.

Provides strategic communications advice and counsel to OCHIN leadership regarding communications strategies to support organizational change and development.

• Actively participates in supporting employee-driven workgroups and networks to discover new and forward-thinking ways to authentically nurture brand ambassadorship from within.

Helps champion a workforce adept at using social media to socialize their enthusiasm for OCHIN’s mission and workplace culture.

• Works across the organization to research and write workforce messages that are clear, compelling, and foster a workplace committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion

• Partners with senior leaders, including the President and CEO, in shaping and writing workforce communications messages that connect, inform, and inspire.

• Develops internal-facing executive communications tactics, such as email correspondence, web-based articles, talking point outlines, and presentations.

• Manages team members and acts as mentor to others on the team. May manage interns, contractors, freelancers, and outside agency partners.

• Plans, writes, reviews, and edits a variety of content across multiple channels.

• Marshals team resources to write, design, review, edit and publish a variety of content from other contributors across OCHIN to ensure consistency with OCHIN brand expression, story, and voice.

• Builds and enforces processes to meet organizational communications and marketing needs.

• Stays abreast of workplace communications best practices and applies those to OCHIN internal communications efforts for continuous learning and improvement.

• In coordination with the VP of Corporate Communications and Marketing and other team managers, acts as a communications lead in crisis and business continuity efforts

• Supports emergency response to ensure OCHIN brand protection and clear, consistent communications to OCHIN leaders and staff.

• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or Journalism, or a combination of experience in related field and some higher education

• Ability to develop and implement communications strategies and programs from concept through implementation

• Adept at working across departments and with all levels in an organization

• Exemplary communications skills, both written and verbal

• Team lead or direct supervisory experience

• 10 years of experience in communications, with a specialization in workforce communications

• 5 years of campaign development to drive brand ambassadorship from within

• 2 years of experience creating social media campaigns that build internal pride and strengthen workplace culture

• Proven experience in developing and delivering original content for a diverse workforce in short timeframes

• Experience developing communications for a dispersed workforce

• Expertise in workplace storytelling, speech writing, and executive messaging

• Background in journalism, organizational development, or workplace consulting

Work Location and Travel Requirements

• This position is 100% remote.

Work from home requirements are:

– Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment

– Travel may be required based on business requirements for OCHIN
