Vice President of Marine Operations

About the Opportunity:

This role will be part of City Experience/City Cruises team responsible for vessel readiness, HSSQE policies, SMS implementation, marine training programs, vessel maintenance software, and regulatory policy with federal and state regulatory agencies.

The VP of Marine operations will lead the City Cruises National Marine Team, including Regional Marine Directors, to support operations across the fleet.

City-level heads of Marine Operations will continue reporting to their General Manager’s, with dotted line responsibility to the VP of Marine Ops.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing regular feedback, and developing employees for wider roles and responsibilities to foster professional growth and development
  • Increase the marine function’s organizational capacity by developing and implementing a robust human capital plan
  • Plan, manage, control and execute all activities connected with maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, conversion or modification of assigned vessels
  • Work collaboratively with City General Managers to maintain Long Range Maintenance Plans for all vessels and facilities within City Cruises Fleet
  • Develop the City Cruises Capital budget to align with vessel reliability, aesthetic and optimization requirements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an asset management program to ensure all marine assets are maintained and in working order, focusing on both system reliability and aesthetics.
  • Strategically manage vessel repowers to ensure regulatory compliance and improved emissions, reliability, and fuel consumption.

    Actively seek Federal and State Grants to reduce the cost of vessel repowers.

  • As applicable, implement and monitor guidelines, standards and regulations related to company Safety Management Systems (SMS) 
  • Develop, implement and maintain all safety practices.

    Ensuring the fleet is aligned and exceeding compliance regulations.

  • Establish, maintain, and foster relationships with the United State Coast Guard, and all federal and state regulatory agencies as appropriate
  • Strategically manage the optimization of the marine assets across the fleet.

    Work with Hornblower’s Senior Vice President of Marine Operations to optimization of the marine assets across the City Experience’s fleet

  • Work collaboratively with the Hornblower’s Senior VP of Marine Operations to align maintenance management, HSSQE management, vessel optimization and training across the City Experience’s fleet.
  • Develop, implement and maintain fleet-wide standardization of all marine product and processes.
  • Work with Hornblower’s Senior Vice President of Marine Operations to reduce procurement costs across the City Experiences fleet
  • Develop and utilize metrics for tracking maintenance compliance, incident reduction, training compliance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Deliver against marine growth goals by ensuring all marine projects are well planned, managed and delivered according to budget and timing guidelines.
  • Remain current in vessel maintenance, guest and shipmate safety and overall marine operations methodology
  • Develop, implement and maintain fleet-wide training regime of ensure well qualified and professional marine team.
  • Work with all marine operation teams across the City Cruises fleet to reduce operational costs.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Excellent understanding of USCG regulations for sub chapter T, K, and H vessels
  • Prior experience in overseeing multi-unit, multi-location marine operations
  • Proven ability to implement and manage change
  • Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Achieve financial results by effectively developing and managing budgets
  • Prior experience running major shipyard repair projects for large fleets
  • A servant leader that will Enable and Protect the organization
