Manager, TV Planning (ESPN)

Job Summary:

ESPN Revenue & Yield Management is responsible for upholding pricing, monetizing marketing ideas, and managing inventory across all ESPN networks (referred to collectively as ESPN): ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, ACCN, SECN, as well as sports on ABC. ESPN RYM works closely with all Sales Teams, other Network’s RYM teams, Marketing, Sales Service and Ad Ops. ESPN’s Planning Managers will be responsible for ESPN Planning, RYM projects, and mentorship of existing and new planners across all ESPN networks.

The Planning Manager will provide unified plans and support to the sales team. The Planning Manager will also play a critical role enabling new sales products to integrate into the day-to-day process. Planning Managers are responsible for managing daily maintenance of active ESPN deals and as well as managing the building of media plans for all Upfront and Scatter deals. Assists and helps to manage the Planners in providing account and planning subject matter expertise. Planning Managers must be able to become experts on the pre-sale sales process to communicate effectively with various teams across Disney’s sales organization, as well as build and maintain external relationships resulting in superior customer service of each assigned account. The Planning Manager will work on various special projects across ESPN RYM. They will also assist in training and mentoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages daily maintenance of active ESPN deals and manages the building of media plans for Upfront and Scatter deals
  • Assists and helps to manage the Planners in providing account and planning subject matter expertise
  • Collaborates with internal and external teams to accomplish client needs and meet / exceed internal goals
  • Act as subject matter expert on the Sales Planning role to provide insight into system enhancements, and day to day support and training for their peers
  • Partner and support Sales, Revenue Yield Management and Ad Ops Management on the planning and deal life cycle
  • Analyzes campaign delivery and assists in assigning make-good inventory
  • Leverage deal expertise to proactively recommend optimized inventory solutions and opportunities
  • Translate marketing elements into campaign proposals
  • Proactively communicate marketplace insights to Revenue Yield Management and Sales team
  • Mentor new planners joining the RYM Team

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of work related industry experience
  • Has planning experience and knowledge of AdVisor
  • Working knowledge of media math
  • Can operate within the context of highly defined, routine processes and procedures adhering to organizational deadlines
  • Proven leadership & problem solving skills
  • Has knowledge of Disney’s multimedia properties
  • Has experience and enjoys both working independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Interested in working in a fast paced, team environment

Required Education

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience
