Job Description

The Athenaeum Hotel Co. is looking for Seasonal Line Supervisors for the Brick Walk Cafe located on Bestor Plaza in Chautauqua Institution, NY.

Position Summary:

Line Supervisor is responsible for the overall Food Service/Line operations. Oversees and leads Line Cooks/Culinary Team.

Essential Functions:

  • Attends orientation and all subsequent training
  • Assists training Line Cook/Cashier Team
  • Assists with programming and operation of POS systems and oversees cash handling policies and standards
  • Assists Manager and Kitchen Manager to track/manage food inventory controls, scheduling and Labor to meet or exceeds operational budget expectations
  • Leads and follows all company policies embracing and reflecting the company’s culture and values
  • Uses superior organizational and teamwork skills
  • Uses positive attitude through speech and body language
  • Upholds uniform policy, personal hygiene, and grooming standards in a professional manner
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have experience in and possess excellent Team Leadership skills in:
  • Directing Line Cook/Cashier Team through ongoing training, coaching and redirection
  • ensuring proper food safety and sanitation standards
  • ensuring food quality and product presentation
  • upholding high standards of service
  • Must have experience in and possess excellent guest relations skills:
  • Develop guest relations.
  • Recognizing guest issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot and recover guests.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Daily Operations: The primary role of a Supervisor is to ensure the daily functioning of Team.
  • Staffing: Communicates Manager with staffing needs
  • Set Goals: Supervisor communicates to Team short and long-term goals set by Manager
  • Liaising: Supervisors effectively communicates and updates Managers daily
  • Administration: Supervisor completes audits, daily reporting, and associated forms
  • Delegation: Effective Supervisors have confidence in their employees and delegate tasks according to the business needs
  • Motivate: As a leader, a Supervisor motivates staff and creates an environment where employees thrive and develop
  • Enforcing Policy: Supervisors enforce company policy to cultivate an environment that makes employees hold one another accountable for their actions.
  • Training: If new technologies or systems are introduced to business, Supervisor assists to train employees. Managers, Supervisors and Team Members are required to attend orientation and all subsequent training
  • Evaluation: To encourage satisfactory work, Supervisors evaluate employee behavior and performance to determine necessary training, redirection/coaching and development and communicate performance with Manager

Formal Experience:

Required: 1 Year Restaurant Supervisory Role
