Quality Control/Baker- 2nd Shift

Nesco Resource is looking for a 2ndShift, Quality Control/Baker in the Poughkeepsie, NY area.

This is a temp to hire position for the right candidate.

This position is for 2ndShift and the schedule is as follows: Monday
– Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, sometimes a little later if needed.

Pay is: $15.00
– $16.00/hour depending on experience. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory compliance in our production facility.

Ensure food safety and product quality standards are met.

Ensure GMPs, SOPs, and safe work practices are being met.

Performs quality assurance testing on test and wet/dry mixes raw materials for Quality Assurance.

Demonstrate leadership while functioning as a team player. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow and understand standards for food safety and foodquality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of majorvendors and governmental agencies. Follows and understands proper Good Hygiene, Safe Work Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), to aide in providing a safe quality product.

Ensure all team members are trained on proper Good Hygiene, Safe Work Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). Responsible for reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a Supervisor or Manager immediately. Responsible for initiating corrections of food safety and quality problems reported by personnel. Monitor and Perform HACCP checks as specified in our HACCP plans.

Document all HACCP checks and corrective actions. Perform calibration of scales, pH meter, thermometers, etc. Follow and enforce standards for food safety and foodquality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of majorcustomers and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA, HACCP, and EPA and assuresassociates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements. Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures in the performance of your job functions.

Ensure that all Operations team members follow SOPs.

Initiate appropriate corrective actions when SOPs are not followed. Take appropriate corrective actions when a deviation or quality problem occurs; at a minimum, any affected product must be placed on HOLD, with a QA HOLD tag affixed to the product identifying the product in question by code number or description, the date, the quantity involved, the reason for placing the product on HOLD, and the recommended disposition. Evaluate and test products on dry and wet mix lines. Deliver raw materials or mixes to lab. Purchase supplies and/or ingredients under manager’s directions. Test in-process wet mix batches for flow, brix, color, viscosity, and pH. Test in-process dry mix batches for appearance, flavor, viscosity, pH, donut/cake weight before and after fry/bake, etc. Bake/fry all Dry-mix items to schedule. Create COA’s for outgoing orders as a back up to HACCP Coordinator. Perform in-process line audits to ensure product meets specifications. Collect samples from warehouse and perform tests to ensure product meets specifications. Collect samples to send out for microbiological analysis. Responsible for receiving bulk raw materials (syrups, flour, sugar). Maintain record-keeping as required by QA programs. Inspect metal detectors, scales, and bulk flour system daily per QA program. Assist in product development as directed by Director of Quality. Prepare and package customer sample requests when applicable. Maintain sanitary work areas. Continuously monitor food safety practices, visual quality standards, conformance to specifications, regulatory compliance, and compliance with company policies. Remain in the productions area monitoring and documenting GMP, food safety, and employee safety policies and procedures, as necessary.

There will be no standing around idle.

Report any quality or regulatory problems to Quality management. Monitor and document conformance to batch sheets, specifications, visual quality standards, and regulatory standards throughout the facility. Perform various audits i.e.

Finished Goods, GMP, Maintenance, Metal Detection, etc. Initiate and monitor corrective actions when required Perform other miscellaneous duties as required by Director of Quality/designee. Overtime will be required on an as needed basis. Complete all other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS: Understand and follow written and verbal instructions Standing or walking 100% of the time. Must be able to carry, twist, bend, and stoop in conjunction with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc. Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be reliable and responsible.
