Head Chef

Employment Solutions is working with a local restaurant to build their management team. Currently we are assisting with locating an experience Head Chef. Must be innovative, looking for a career and growth minded.

· Advanced knowledge the industry’s best practices regarding food profession principles and practices

· Excellent knowledge of BOH systems, ordering, inventory and cost management

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Head Chefs complete a variety of creative, organizational and leadership tasks to ensure a kitchen runs optimally and patrons’ meals are satisfactory.

· Developing unique and cuisine-appropriate menus

· Collaborating with the Restaurant Manager to set item prices

· Staying current on developing trends in the restaurant industry

· Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the company standards and health code regulations

· Monitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors

· Hiring, training and supervising kitchen staff

· Assisting and directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating and delivery

· Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques

· Preparing meals and completing prep support as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Standing
  • Full-time hours
  • Available to work on call, shifts, after hours, over weekends and on public holidays
  • Schedule may fluctuate based on restaurant requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· 2-year college degree or BS in culinary arts, or closely related field (preferred)

· Current food safety certification, such as ServSafe and SafeStaff (preferred) Experience

· 3+ years of experience managing the full range of a restaurant kitchen

Job Requirements:

  • Develop menus for nightly chef specials, theme or holiday meals and the community’s house menu
  • Exercise administrative supervision over chef leads, chefs, chef assistants, cooks, bakers, and other food service staff including student employees
  • Provide professional leadership and training to cooks, sous chef and/or kitchen staff
  • Work with sous chef to prepare and serve food to the GR family
  • Turn into a chef executive position with opportunity for further growth
  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen and all food preparation and kitchen service for the restaurant
  • Set up food for cooking and side orders
  • Interviewing and hiring of food production staff
  • Analyzing food production records and menu expenses
  • Coordinate food preparation for catering and special events
  • Discuss menus and food preferences
  • Assist kitchen staff in producing food for all banquets
  • Assist in developing line menu to complement overall menu
