Technical Business Analyst

22nd Century Technologies

This is a Contract position in Rome, NY posted November 21, 2021.

OVERVIEW This Business Analyst role will be supporting the .NET software development team by working with software engineers and end users across the Authority in developing software solutions that meet market and strategic objectives, while leveraging common NYSERDA business processes and delivery models, to achieve scale and performance expectations.

WORK SCOPE Responsibilities: Knowledge, skills and abilities: Excellent communication and analytical skills Ability to quickly learn organizational structure, business strategies and processes Self-motivated and comfortable with initial ambiguity; resourceful enough to drive towards clarity by evaluating the solutions landscape Ability to problem solve independently by diagnosing problems, gathering requirements for resolution and engaging the right stakeholders to determine solutions Experience implementing Agile Scrum in software development Knowledge of change management best practices Ability to collaborate cross functionally with various employees Detail oriented and a critical thinker Experience with Lean or Business Process Reengineering, a plus Skill in documenting requirements and specifications, and creating visual aids representing business processes using standard methods.

Skill in managing multiple diverse activities simultaneously, delivering on commitments, and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgement.

Ability to quickly identify and drive the best possible solution when presented with a series of opportunities and constraints.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

A strong customer orientation, with active listening skills and the ability to understand and define and document business needs comprehensively.

Ability to effectively elicit functional needs from business users and translate those needs to user stories and tasks that software developers can implement.

Experience with Office 365 applications is required (Word, SharePoint, MS Teams, OneDrive, Excel, Outlook) Experience with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence).

The Business Analyst must be able to communicate effectively and: Work with functional business leads to develop and transform requirements into systems design and implementation.

Collect, document, map, and analyze business process and system dependencies.

Translate system design requirements into Agile Scrum Product Backlog.

Develop and manage Agile Scrum Sprints from Product Backlog.

Effectively communicate status, collaborate, and problem-solve with relevant stakeholders.

Collaborate with colleagues to identify recommendations for process improvements, overcoming constraints, and resolve difficult operational and technological issues.

Identify, mitigate, and manage risk.

Manage ongoing support requests and research / document the needs behind those requests.

Assist in quality assurance and user acceptance testing.

Recommend leveraging existing functionality that might be available rather than building new.

Expected Deliverables Agile product backlog for the various software development initiatives Agile Scrum Sprints Business process work flows Presentations Training Materials Technical and Functional Design, where applicable Experience Level: mid-level to senior The Contractor should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Business Analysis or Scrum Master role Interest and experience in energy and energy efficiency Prior experience in government is beneficial, but not required Experience and skill in discerning true requirements stemming from needs as opposed to business units’ less critical wants and wishes.
