Laboratory Technologist – Recent Grads Welcome!

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy NY is hiring three full time Laboratory Technologists.

Pay is competitive; apply to learn more!The Laboratory Technologist will perform routine and specialized molecular testing, including SARS-Co V-2 testing under limited supervision.

The incumbent will use training in medical technology to perform clinical lab testing and perform testing of patient specimens independent of immediate supervision.

The incumbent must adhere to established policies and procedures and perform related tasks (QC, PM, calibrations, etc.).

The incumbent is expected to maintain records of testing including, but not limited to patient results, proficiency testing, quality control, instrument calibrations, and preventive maintenance procedures as well as comply with major privacy rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).Qualifications:Candidates will have, at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, engineering or related discipline.Candidates are expected to have relevant experience in a paid or unpaid capacity, or as a student with relevant laboratory based coursework.

Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.Though not required, candidates with experience in DNA/RNA extraction and PCR are especially desired.Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to work with standard clinical laboratory equipment and molecular biology equipment
• Ability to collect and record data using appropriate field specific systems, equipment and techniques
• Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data
• Ability to communicate statistical data in a clear, concise manner
• Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
• Ability to understand and follow directions; must be able to work closely with others
• Analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult situations or people.Shift: Work is performed during normal business hours.
