Lead Field Technician

ButterflyMX is a cloud-based touchscreen smart intercom system for multi family, student housing and commercial office space with associated mobile app for residents and a property management software system for property managers.
The Lead Field Technician role requires a deep working knowledge of low voltage electrical work, relay logic, circuit logic, access control, and structured cabling.

The Lead Field Technician will be working with ButterflyMX’s Technical and Project Management Team to handle new installations of ButterflyMX products as well as technical troubleshooting of ButterflyMX products.

In addition to the necessary technical and field experience, this role requires great people skills and the ability to interface with low voltage/access control installers, building staff, tenants, and property managers.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, consistent ability to document interactions with installers, and willingness to learn new competencies is a must.

Effective communication via phone/email and web interface is also critical to the success of this position.

This is a field position, with a small amount of office work.
New York City, New York , but requires occasional city, state, out of state, and international travel.
and Duties
Be responsible for installation of our products in the field, alongside a junior Field Technician Provide leadership and mentorship to junior Field Technician(s) Use standards, industry best practices, and our product documentation to ensure a high level of excellence in installation Document, photograph, and communicate effectively all relevant information about a site, using our SOPs and web based tools.

Work with the Technical and Project Management Teams to develop better processes and documentation Provide first contact support to tenants, building staff, and property managers while on site Maintain and keep track of all facilities and equipment assigned to the field team Assist Installation Specialists, cornerstone Lead Technicians, and Technical Managers as needed in training, troubleshooting, and complex installation design Assist other teams on hardware related office issues as directed
And Skills
At least 3 years of hands-on experience, with at least 1 year in a foreman or lead role, in access control, intercom, and/or alarm low voltage as part of a total 7+ years of work experience with transferable skills (call center operator, construction, telecom, cable installer, etc).
Hand tools, both general and specialist for low voltage Soldering iron Low torque power tools Minor construction tasks, such as penetrations Firestopping and bonding Crimpers and terminators Circuit, relay, and prototyping logic Multimeters, testers, and certifiers Responsiveness to calls and emails Excellent verbal and written communication skills Read technical diagrams Follow instructions
– find and read manuals Experience with ticketing and tracking processes Ability to write/fill out detailed reports on each site including pictures Ability to learn new competencies and a good attitude towards teaching others is critical Ability to use web-based software tools such as Salesforce and Lucidcharts
Ability to lift up to 75lbs and stand for long periods of time.
Current OSHA 30
Valid driver license.
Any related certifications (ie BICSI INST1, INSTC, or TECH) or formal education is a plus, but not a substitute for experience.
Knowledge of technical Spanish and/or Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese also a plus.
