Automation Technician

We are currently in search of a Automation Technician to join our Industrial Engineering department of the Marquardt Group in our location Cazenovia (USA).

The Automation Technician is responsible for assembling manual/automated automotive production equipment. This will entail electrical panel wiring, mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and debugging issues on equipment. Hands on problem solving and design work.

Automation Technician Essential Responsibilities:

Reading and interpreting assembly drawings and 3D models

Assembly of mechanical devices and machined components

Reading and interpreting electrical drawings

Assembly and wiring of electrical devices and connections

Use of hand tools and measuring equipment

Basic troubleshooting and use of a multimeter

Basic understanding of tool room machines at a fundamental level. Mills, lathes, grinders

Machining basic parts from drawings.

Ability to perform tool room work in a timely manner.
Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Serve as technical resource production coordinators, and other personnel as required.

Required Qualifications for Automation Technician:

Associated of Applied Science degree in Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical Technology, similar major, or equivalent experience in manufacturing environment.

Highly motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

People centric focus with ability to collaborate with all teammates across the organization.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated attention to details.

Flexible and adaptive behavior: open minded and ability to quickly adapt to change.

Math skills – knowledge of shop / mechanical mathematics.

Basic computer skills. Ability to learn CAM software.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, maintenance instructions, and detailed procedure manuals.
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.

Physical Demands:

Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 lbs.

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing in excess of 100 lbs.

Ability to stand and walk on a regular basis and occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Ability to use close vision, color vision, and depth perception for extended periods.

Work Environment:

Employee is regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts.

Employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.

Noise level in work environment is generally moderate.

Recycling is required.
