Automation Applications Engineer

We are currently in search of a Automation Applications Engineer to join our Industrial Engineering department of the Marquardt Group in our location Cazenovia (USA).

The Automation Applications Engineer is responsible for performing activities related to the concepts, development, implementation, quoting and launch of internal and external business. This position will be a key link between the customer and the internal realization team for the creation of industrial equipment / systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

Work closely with Mechanical and Controls team members to develop and integrate manual and automatic assembly / test systems
Interface with customers to define / specify their equipment needs
Develop cost estimates for equipment
Participate in large engineering projects by completing multiple tasks
Work with the design and controls team to develop automation
Develop and communicate a project specific solution based on customer needs
Work with the team to optimize the cost structure / resources of the internal and external workload balance

Required Qualifications for this role include:

Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field
Experience with industrial components, applications, integration, and costing
3-5 years related experience. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Computer skills, including the use of CAD software, PLC software, or PC based control systems
Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes, including flow, layout, and assembly and production equipment
Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and manufacturing quality tools
Understanding of complex mechanical and control systems
Knowledge of design for manufacturing, including conventional machining and 3D printing preferred
Basic self management skills, including planning and organization, decision making, problem solving, and project management
Verbal communication skills, including group presentation and customer conversations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees
Ability to prepare complex written reports, specifications, and other documents
Willing to travel domestically. Internationally preferred
Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions
Ability to strive in both a teamwork setting and self-managed environment
