Clinical Laboratory Technician – Lvl II

Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887.

The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood.

Harlem is the largest hospital in the area, capable of treating the most seriously ill.

Harlem provides over 90 specialized ambulatory care services, dentistry and oral surgery, behavioral health services, and community substance abuse treatment.

Under direct supervision of the technologist/ supervisor/ appropriate Clinical Laboratory personnel performs laboratory testing of moderate complexity using manual or automated system.

Duties & Responsibilities:

– Obtain specimens and label with name, chart number, date and source.

– Stores and preserve specimens and dispose completed specimens.

– Analyzes, validates and records diagnostic test results utilizing safeguards such as delta check.

– Calibrates, prepares, cleans and maintains manual and automated medical Laboratory equipment to perform qualitative and quantitative Laboratory test analyses.

– Conducts and maintains inventory of laboratory supplies.

– Completes work in a timely manner while maintaining departmental quality performance standards.

– Completes all required documentation´s and reporting according to departmental policy.

– Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.

VaIid certification as a clinical laboratory technician issued by the NYSED.

Special Note:

1.

Successful completion of an appropriate training program for phlebotomy (satisfactory to the laboratory director) must be completed prior to an individual performing such work.

Preferences:

One year experience in a Laboratory setting.
