Financial Aid Assistant

This is a Full-time position in New York, NY posted November 22, 2021.

Looking for a person to fill the role as Financial Aid assistant for a school working directly with students. This is an in office position Monday through Friday 9am-5pm. The position is long term with possibility of permanent hire.

Job Requirements:

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Manage and respond to inquiries from the financial aid inbox and phone line.
  • Assist with scholarship adjustments and award letters for newly admitted students. 
  • Assist with the process loan increases, summer loan applications, consortium agreements, certification of private and bar study loans through electronic transfer process and academic status changes for continuing students. 
  • Assist with the counseling of incoming and continuing students in the financial aid process.
  • Manage financial aid internal calendar.
  • Assist the Director of Financial Literacy and Federal Work Study with financial literacy communications, programs, and federal work study
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned
  • Participates in the school’s Open House
  • Attend weekly departmental staff meetings. 

 

Requirements:

  • A college degree is required, and a minimum of three years related experience and knowledge of database systems.
  • Experience in Banner and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse individuals, both inside and outside of the law school.
  • Significant experience in handling large volume of mailings. 
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills are a must–person must be “people” oriented:  friendliness, patience, and a helpful attitude are required.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Excellent time management skills.
